Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior representative commented the vandalism left him stunned and required to be solved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in five years prior.
